AIR celebrates 25th anniversary

The All India Radio celebrated the 25th anniversary of its commissioning today. To celebrate the silver jubilee, a function was organised at Civil Lines Club, in which RN Mishra, additional director general (news), All India Radio, participated as the chief guest and Dr MPS Ishar, Vice-Chancellor of Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University attended the event as a special guest. People belonging to various walks of life also attended the function.

The programme started with the welcome address by Er SR Suthar (engineering head) and after that Rajeev K Arora, station head of All India Radio, Bathinda, who has been associated with the organisation for almost 24 years, recalled the days of terrorism in Punjab when the programme production staff faced threats from anti-national elements who wanted to influence the content of the programmes broadcast by AIR stations and defiance of which cost the lives of many officers of the All India Radio.

Besides, educationists of the region which included the principal of Malwa College, NK Gossain and principal of DAV College, Sanjiv Sharma, expressed their views on the role of the All India Radio in spreading the awareness among the youth by broadcasting programmes on career counselling.

Chief guest RN Mishra asserted that the All India Radio had a very bright future.
