Practitioners and doctors from the region spoke on homoeopathy, ayurveda and naturopathy among other ancient healing techniques on the second day of the Arogya Mela at Government Rajindra College.

After witnessing a large turnout of visitors on the first day, the second day of Arogya Mela also saw a heavy footfall. Visitors were seen enquiring and buying medicines at the venue. Around 1,130 patients availed free treatment at seven OPDs (five ayurveda and two homoeopathy) established at the mela.

A giddha performance by a group of girls enthralled one and all present at the venue. Delegates from all across the northern region and some other states participated in the Arogya mela.

Dr Balkrishan Kaushik elaborated on the significance of yoga and ayurveda to live a healthy life. Dr Chetan Mehta, a Panchkarma expert, dwelt on the healing technique and how it can be instrumental in treating diseases without any side effects.

Dr Nirupama Arora, Ayurvedic Medical Officer from Amritsar, delivered a lecture on the significance of plating ayurvedic medicinal plants at homes that can effectively be used for treating mild diseases. Dr Dinesh, AMO, Amritsar, spoke on ‘Panchagavya’ where a blend of five products of cow is used in the traditional Hindu rituals. The three direct constituents are cow dung, urine, and milk; the two derived products are curd and ghee are mixed together and allowed to ferment.
