Bathinda, October 15

General secretary of the local NGO Punjab Human Rights Committee, Ved Parkash Gupta, has written a letter to Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh demanding probe into the ongoing Diwali festival organised in the city.

Gupta has stated that it was happening for the first time that a function was being organised in the city without the permission of the MCB while many senior officials of the administration attended it.

He said the festival was reportedly organised by a private company and the organisers had blocked one side of the 100-ft road for it.

Gupta has also stated that the Congress government in the state was proving to be more corrupt than the SAD-BJP government.

He has also written that in every election speech, Capt Amarinder Singh had declared that Majithas and Malukas would be dealt strictly and sent to jail, but nothing had happened. — TNS
