Malout, February 17

Demanding the immediate restoration of power supply to the local waterworks, AAP workers staged a protest outside the PSPCL office here today.

They threatened to block the national highway if the authorities failed to resume the supply by Monday.

The power supply has been discontinued after the Water Supply and Sewerage Board failed to clear its dues of nearly Rs 4 crore.

Ramesh Arniwala, vice-president of AAP’s Muktsar district, said, “The PSPCL has failed to take a similar step in Gidderbaha and Abohar towns where the outstanding dues of waterworks is also in crores. However in Malout, power officials have discontinued the supply to the waterworks thrice in the past few days. As a result, local residents are facing problems.”
