As many as 850 residents have been registered with Walkathon Bathinda 2018 to be organised under Tandarust Punjab Mission here on Sunday.
Giving information here on Thursday, Deputy Commissioner Praneet said Finance Minister Manpreet Badal would be a part of the Walkathon Bathinda event.
Though the event is mainly for the elderly, youngsters can participate in it. Those interested can get themselves registered with the event on www.tandarustbathinda.com and at Rose Garden on Sunday as well.
The DC, ADC Sakshi Sawhney, Civil Surgeon Dr Hari Narain Singh, SP Gurmeet Singh, SDM Balwinder Singh and Tehsildar Sukhbir Singh Brar on Thursday released the route plan for the walkathon, which will cover a distance of 1.5 km. Starting from Rose Garden, it will cover areas of Joggers’ Park from 6 am to 8 am.
The event will begin with a meditation session of Art of Living. Free T-shirts will be distributed among the participants. A health check-up camp will be held for the elderly. The participants will get snacks and arrangements in this regard have also been made.
The DC directed the Health Department to make arrangements for doctors and ambulances during the event.
The Mandi Board has been directed to make arrangements for potable water. Heads of various educational institutes have been directed to make sure that their students participate in the event. The DC appealed to residents to take part in the event in large numbers.
