70 per cent cases solved by grievances redressal panel

More than 70 per cent issues have been resolved by the District Grievances Redressal Committee, which met here at the District Administrative Complex on Monday, under the chairmanship of Cabinet Minister Sukbinder Singh Sarkaria. The cases were taken up by the committee in its last meeting.

Sarkaria said the committee formed to resolve issues and complaints of citizens was proving beneficial for the public. He said most of the issues were related to cleanliness, stray animals, condition of roads, availability of potable water and health facilities. Sarkaria said following his instructions at the last meeting, the district administration had resolved more than 70 per cent issues before today’s meeting.

“Government doctors should follow guidelines of the government while prescribing medicines to patients, failing which they would have to face strict action,” said the minister.

He also ordered submission of a detailed report about the Jan Aushadhi scheme and other issues being faced by public at a government health facility at Dhanaula town before the next meeting of the committee. He also directed officials to submit action-taken report on issues raised by committee members and asked the Deputy Commissioner to verify the reports by sending senior officials to the spot.

Barnala DC Tej Partap Singh Phoolka, MLA Kulwant Singh Pandori, SSP Harjit Singh, ADC Ruhee Dugg, Assistant Commissioner Karamjit Singh, DDPO Sanjeev Sharma were among other committee members present at the meeting.
