Sultanpur Lodhi, November 12

In a rare gesture to mark the 550th Parkash Purb, over 5,000 devotees from the Zira Assembly constituency yesterday take out a 'hiking march' from Zira to the holy town to pay obeisance after covering nearly 45 km in six hours. Holding 'kesari nishans' in their hands, the sangat reached the city with gaiety.

Welcoming the sangat in the Lohian road area near a tent city, Capt Sandeep Sandhu, political adviser to the CM, and MLA Navtej Singh Cheema said it was an experience of lifetime to receive the procession that walked over 45 km.

MLA from the Zira Assembly constituency Kulbir Singh Zira said it was a matter of pride for the Zira constituency to take part in sewa in Sultanpur Lodhi during the celebrations.

He said the sangat would perform sewa at Gurdwara Ber Sahib. To welcome the grand procession, gates have been installed at various places and preparations for langars have been made at a large scale. — TNS
