5 booked for exchanging heated arguments with bus driver

The police have booked five persons, including the owners of a tea shop and a tyre shop, for exchanging heated arguments with a bus drive over the use of a pressure horn.

A case under Sections 341, 353, 186, 427 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered against them at the Civil Line police station. The case was registered on the complaint filed by supporters of the bus driver.

The arguments took place yesterday morning at Tinkoni Chowk when some persons sitting on chairs on the footpath outside a tea stall adjoining the GT Road objected to the use of the pressure horn of a PRTC bus.

The tea seller said he was not aware of the reason behind the heated arguments that took place between his customers and the bus driver. He said passers-by could be seen talking about the heated arguments between the customers and the bus driver.

Onlookers said people who come for morning walk often sit outside the tea stall and occupy the entire footpath, outside the tea stall.

They alleged that the bus driver used the pressure horn despite a ban in the city. Besides issuing numerous challans, the city traffic police have also installed boards to make the drivers aware of the ban.

People who were sipping tea outside the stall decided to take up the matter with the bus driver.

The driver also argued with them and questioned their authority of stopping him from using the horn. Both parties entered into heated arguments and those who were sipping tea allegedly abused and slapped the bus driver. The police said no arrests had been made so far.
