4 theft incidents reported from city

BATHINDA: Four incidents of theft were reported from the district in the past two days. In the first incident, thieves decamped with gold jewellery and cash from a house near the old police station. The incident came to the light when family members reached home and found everything ransacked.

Four incidents of theft were reported from the district in the past two days.

In the first incident, thieves decamped with gold jewellery and cash from a house near the old police station. The incident came to the light when family members reached home and found everything ransacked.

Cops from the Kotwali police station immediately reached the spot and initiated a probe into the incident. Fingerprint expert were also called in to join the probe.

Complainant Hemant Kumar told the police that he and his wife were at their workplace, while their son was at school when the incident took place. He said his father Ramesh Chander was at his shop at that time.

He said, “Around 1 pm when my father reached home after picking my son from his school, he found everything scattered. He saw that all almirahs were open and after checking, he found that some of his jewellery and Rs70,000 in cash were missing.”

It is believed that the thieves had entered the house through the terrace and committed the crime between 10 am and 1pm.

In another similar incident, Sunil Kumar, a resident of Janta Nagar, told the police that he, along with his family members, had gone to attend a wedding function on Monday night and when they returned, they found material in their house scattered. He said the thieves decamped with Rs5,000 and gold jewellery.

In third incident, Manoj Mehta, a resident of Partap Nagar, told the police that unidentified persons took away Rs6,000 and some items from his karyana shop on Monday night.

Karamjit Kaur, a resident of Baba Deep Singh Nagar, had also lodged a complaint with the police in which she said that thieves took away Rs3,000 and jellwellery from her house on Monday night. The Canal Colony police have started a probe into the incident.
