BATHINDA: The local police have booked four persons from Ludhiana for allegedly not paying Rs22 lakh to a firm after purchasing pesticides for five years — 2007 and 2011.

The local police have booked four persons from Ludhiana for allegedly not paying Rs22 lakh to a firm after purchasing pesticides for five years — 2007 and 2011.

According to the police, the accused, identified as Pal Singh, Gurcharan Singh, Darshan Singh and Ranjodh Singh of Ludhiana district, opened three fake accounts one after the other in Ludhiana and procured pesticide from Bathinda-based Atul Pesticide Pvt Ltd for almost five years.

Complainant Mahesh Manocha from the pesticide firm told the police that the accused used to place bulk orders of pesticides and used to make payments through cheques. He added that each time, these cheques had bounced.

Sub-inspector Gurmail Singh, SHO, Thermal Police station, said, “After conducting probs, we have registered a case against the accused under Sections 420 and 120-B of the IPC. The accused were running fake firms and used to purchase pesticide on forged documents.”— TNS
