The police have booked three Mohali residents, including a couple, for cheating a Parasram Nagar resident and others of Rs 13 lakh.

In her complaint to the police, Maninder Kaur said accused Babu Lal Arora, his wife Nirmla Devi and Arti Arora, all residents of Mohali, cheated her of Rs 8 lakh.

She said the accused offered to help her in buying a plot at a cheap rate but made her pay Rs 8 lakh extra.

The accused also cheated her other relatives of Rs 5 lakh in a similar manner, the complainant said.

Police officials said a case in this connection had been registered against the accused under Section 420 of the IPC at the Canal Colony police station. Further investigating is on.
