2 arrested with fake currency in Barnala

BARNALA: The Crime Investigations Agency (CIA) has arrested two persons after fake currency amounting to Rs11,300 was allegedly recovered from their possession.

The Crime Investigations Agency (CIA) has arrested two persons after fake currency amounting to Rs11,300 was allegedly recovered from their possession. The police suspect that the accused are members of a gang.

The accused have been identified as Hans Mohd (50) and Akbar Khan (45).

Acting on a tip-off, a police party led by ASI Randhir Singh intercepted the accused near Fountain Chowk here when they were going on a motorcycle. The police had secret information that the accused were involved in circulating fake currency in the area.

“During a search, fake currency to the tune of Rs11,300 in the denomination of Rs100 was recovered from the accused. Many currency notes are of the same series,” said ASI Randhir Singh, posted at the CIA. — TNS
