A 17-year-old boy was killed as a mini bus overturned in fields at Dikh village here on Monday. In the mishap, five girls were injured.

The deceased has been identified as Gurjit Singh (17), a resident of Sooch village. The girls — Sandeep Kaur, Amandeep Kaur, Rimpi, Amandeep Kaur and Ramandeep Kaur — injured in the mishap were taken to a government hospital in Rampura.

ASI Chamkaur Singh from the Ballianwali police station said, “On Monday morning, a private bus was coming Sooch village and when it reached near Dikh village, the driver tried to overtake another bus. While overtaking, the driver lost control over the vehicle and it overturned in fields.”

The ASI said, “The driver is on the run and we have impounded the bus. A case has been registered against the driver.”— TNS
