1 killed, several hurt in road accidents

One person was killed and various others were injured in various road mishaps, which took place in the city in the past 24 hours.

A Bolero car rammed a truck, which was parked on the overbridge outside the cantonment area on the Bathinda-Chandigarh highway last night.

After getting the information, NGO Sahara Welfare Society volunteers reached the spot and with the help of a jack, they moved the car and later took out the injured after breaking the glass of the car. Both the injured were rushed to the hospital, where one was declared dead and the other was referred to Faridkot.

The deceased has been identified as Kulbant Singh and the injured was his son Bindraram (20), a resident of Rajgarh Kubbe village.

In another accident that took place on this spot, three persons were injured as a car which was coming from the Faridabad side rammed into Bolaro and the truck. The injured have been identified as Poonam, Ajay and Shakuntla, residents of Bathinda. The injured were immediately taken to the hospital for treatment.

A woman was injured after she fell off from the motorcycle, which lost balance. This incident took place at the Patiala railway crossing in the city. The injured woman suffered head injury in the incident. The woman has been identified as Kuldeep Kaur.

In another incident, two motorcyclists were injured after their motorcycle collided with a car near Arya Samaj chowk in the city. The injured have been identified as Prashant Garg (20) and Harminder Singh (25). They were admitted to the Civil Hospital, where there treatment is going on.
