Bathinda, February 11

The two-day conference of the Jamhuri Adhikar Sabha held at the Shaheed Gauri Lankesh Hall of Bhana Mall Trust complex concluded here today.

The delegates discussed the challenges which Indian democracy faces these days. Prof Jagmohan Singh, Prof AK Malari and others noted that under the NDA government, greater polarisation is being witnessed in the country.

The Sangh Parivar is pursuing Hindutva agenda, under which the rights of dalits, muslims, women along with other minorities has been suppressed.

Discussing the state of affairs in Punjab, the delegates said the Congress under the leadership of Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has failed to fulfill the promises that it made to the voters before the Assembly elections last year.

They said the Congress has failed miserably in solving the major issues such as farmers committing suicides, unemployment and drug addiction.

The delegates also urged the state government to end practice of registering fake police cases against the protesters.
