CHANDIGARH:The Congress and the Akali Dal (Kabul) today began their campaign for power in Punjab with each party winning one seat in the 117-member state Assembly.

CHANDIGARH, Feb. 5  

The Congress and the Akali Dal (Kabul) today began their campaign for power in Punjab with each party winning one seat in the 117-member state Assembly. Capt Amarinder Singh, chairman of the Dal (K) Parliamentary Board and an aspirant for the Chief Ministership was declared elected unopposed from the Samana Assembly constituency of Patiala district following withdrawal by all other candidates.

In Tarn Taran Assembly constituency of Amritsar district, Mr Dilbagh Singh Daleke (Congress I), a former Punjab Minister, was also declared elected unopposed following the withdrawal by all other candidates from the contest.
