A youth sustained a bullet injury after he was attacked by some persons here today.

The injured, Vishal Soni, is a resident of Khuh Wali Gali in Jandiala. He, along with his two friends Harjit Singh and Jagpreet Singh, was returning home after dining at a shopping mall near the elevated road on GT road when the incident took place. He has sustained injury on his leg.

An old enmity is stated to be the reason behind the incident. The police have booked Babbal of Gehri Mandi, Kalu of Bazaar Kashmirian, Jandiala, Bholu of Thathia village and two unidentified persons on the complaint of Soni.

According to Soni, when he reached near Nijjarpura toll plaza, the accused came on two bikes and opened fire at him. Later, they fled the scene while threatening the victim. A case under Sections 307, 148 and 149 of the IPC and 25, 27, 54, 59 under the Arms Act has been registered against them.

Sub-Inspector (SI) Harmit Singh said last month Soni and his accomplices had allegedly shot Gurjant Singh of the rival group. A case was registered against Soni and his accomplices. He said raids were being conducted to nab the accused, who are on the run.
