As many as eight different youth organisations today came together to pass a declaration, seeking assured education, health and employment from the government.

Members of these organisations today converged at the historic Jallianwala Bagh to jointly release the declaration. These organisations include Shaheed Bhagat Singh Youth Federation, Punjab Students Federation, Sarb Bharat Naujwan Sabha, All India Students Federation, Janwadi Naujwan Sabha, Students Federation of India, Inqlabi Naujwan Sabha and All India Students Association.

Baldev Singh Pandori of Shaheed Bhagat Singh Youth Federation said the declaration would be a stepping stone for Punjabi youth to realise their dream of guaranteed employment.

The declaration has asked the Punjab legislature to pass the Employment Guarantee Act, ensuring confirmed livelihood to the people between 18 to 58 years age group. It demanded end to the contract system, besides no fee for taking eligibility examination for jobs.

It also sought promulgation of the Free and Compulsory Right to Education Act, besides fixing of student teacher ratio in schools to 20:1 and in colleges at 11:1.

It stated that keeping in view spread of diseases in contemporary society it must be made mandatory to employ a doctor after at least 500 patients and 100-bed hospital must be established at each block.

The declaration demanded stern action against police-politico nexus giving patronage to drug mafia and peddlers. It favoured setting up of sports stadiums, libraries and cultural spots in each village.
