Youth held for raping minor

AMRITSAR: The rural police on Saturday nabbed Ranjit Singh, who had allegedly raped a minor girl on July 13. The police said he was arrested from Ram Tirath area.

The rural police on Saturday nabbed Ranjit Singh, who had allegedly raped a minor girl on July 13. The police said he was arrested from Ram Tirath area.

In a statement issued here, the police informed that the father of the victim had lodged a complaint on July 16 that his 12-year-old daughter was standing outside the house when Ranjit Singh, alias Jita, of Kohali village took her to his house. He alleged that he along with others, while searching for her, heard her screams from Ranjit’s house. The accused fled in no time after the complainant saw him committing the crime.
