FICCI FLO held a seminar on women safety in association with Make Women Safe initiative by a Gurgaon-based NGO. A self defence workshop was also held that had Krav Maga expert Shael Sharma teaching the women some useful techniques to save themselves in a difficult situation.

The workshop was attended by women representatives from 22 business and educational units, including Khalsa College. Women police officers and commandos also attended the workshop. Police Commioner SS Srivastav informed about the Shakti app launched by the police to ensure that women feel safe at all times in the city.

The mobile application that was launched by the police a few months ago, can be downloaded on any android phone.

Meanwhile, Junior Anand from Seeking Her Empowerment, an NGO from Gurgaon working towards women safety, said that there was a dire need to make India safe for women. “Age is not a deterrent when it comes to crime against women. So, we need to work towards it as a society, starting today.”

Shael Sharma, a Krav Maga expert, who has taught Rani Mukerjee among others, in the art of self defence, took a session on the Israeli martial art. “A street style self defence technique developed by Israel for military and civilian training, Krav Maga is a relatively new form of martial art in India,” he said.
