Woman, two others booked for theft

Gurvel Singh of Mundapind has lodged a case against his daughter-in-law and her parents for cheating and stealing valuables from his house.

The Goindwal Sahib police have registered a case under Sections 420, 379 and 120-B of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against the accused who have been identified as Lovepreet Kaur, her father Parkash Singh and mother Rajbir Kaur of Katra Jaimal Singh, Amritsar.

Gurvel Singh mentioned in his police complaint that the accused connived to steal Rs 1 lakh, gold ornaments worth 10 tolas (grams), his son’s documents and marriage certificate among other things from his house on June 3. Later, Lovepreet Kaur went to her parents without informing the family.

Gurvel’s son Gurjap Singh was married to Lovepreet Kaur on May 18, 2018 but the couple developed differences a little later. The accused are absconding, the police said.

The complainant has sought their immediate arrest.
