Woman killed, kin injured in mishap on Bhikhiwind road

Charan Kaur (65) of Valtoha village was killed and her grandson (daughter’s son) was injured in a road accident when they were on their way to Bhikhiwind, 40 km from here, yesterday. The police have registered a case under Sections 304-A, 279, 427, 337 and 338, IPC, against the driver of the car responsible for the accident.

Gurdeep Singh, the son of the deceased, Charan Kaur, told the police that his mother was going to the Bhikhiwind township on the motorcycle of her grandson, Harnoor Singh, when the car hit them head-on. Charan Kaur, in a serious condition, was admitted to Guru Nanak Hospital, Amritsar, where she succumbed to her injuries. ASI Kulwant Singh, the Investigating Officer, said the driver of the car fled from the spot and had not been identified as yet.
