Woman caught with heroin

Amritsar, July 9

The police have arrested a woman for allegedly possessing 100 gm of heroin and 1,200 intoxicating tablets. Identified as Nirmal Kaur, she is a resident of Green City in Naraingarh. Her son Lovejit Singh managed to flee.

Vavinder Mahajan, in-charge of the CIA staff, said a checkpoint was established near Naraingarh following a tip-off where a car was signalled to stop. However, on seeing the police party, the driver tried to escape but couldn’t due to traffic rush. The cops ran towards the vehicle but the driver fled away taking advantage of the darkness.

The woman on the rear seat was caught possessing drugs. She told the police that the youth who fled the scene was her son Lovejit. The police said raids were on to nab him while further interrogation was under way to know whom did they got the drugs from.

Meanwhile, the CIA staff arrested Jugal Kishore of Ganda Singh Wala and seized 1,120 capsules. A case has been registered. — TNS
