Warder held for sneaking in charas, heroin inside jail

AMRITSAR: A warder of the Amritsar Central Jail has been arrested with 45 gm of charas and 3 gm of heroin. The warder is accused of sneaking in the contraband inside the jail.

A warder of the Amritsar Central Jail has been arrested with 45 gm of charas and 3 gm of heroin.

The warder is accused of sneaking in the contraband inside the jail.

The suspect has been identified as Satnam Singh, a resident of Jalalpur that comes under the Majitha police station.

A case under Sections 20, 21, 61 and 85 of the NDPS Act, Section 166-A of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Section 42 of the Prison Act has been registered against him.

This is not the lone case. In November last year, a jail warder was arrested when he was found sneaking in tobacco inside the jail premises.

A pharmacist was also held in the past by for sneaking a mobile phone by hiding it in record registers inside the jail.

A jail official said every possible step was being taken to prevent sneaking of prohibited material.

About suspect

The suspect has been identified as Satnam Singh, a resident of Jalalpur that comes under the Majitha police station. A case under Sections 20, 21, 61 and 85 of the NDPS Act, Section 166-A of the IPC and Section 42 of the Prison Act has been registered against him.
