Amritsar, November 8

Cooperative milk supply group Verka today released a fresh slogan for its products to commemorate its 52 years of production line.

Verka today announced a new brand identity that signifies its growth and transformation, and celebrates the promise of purity over the history of 50 years by the company.

The positioning line borrows from the Indian ethos of life being a mirror of what one consumes.

The option also introduces along the new Verka writing style, a sun graphic that adds oodles of vibrancy to the visual appeal of the brand. The white sunlight of the morning denotes purity.

The brand name Verka got associated with the dairy products manufactured by the cooperative sector or government-owned milk plants in the state after the first such milk plant was set up in Verka, a suburb of Amritsar in 1963.

It became the first milk plant to be set up in north India and was the second in the country after the one at Anand in Gujarat, which later became famous for the Amul brand.

The Verka milk plant comes under Milk Federation (Milkfed) like all other milk plants that have been set up by the government in the state.

As per the Food Safety and Standards Authority, 68 per cent of the milk produced in India does not conform to set standards. But Verka not only conforms to the standards, it exceeds in the nutritional value.

It is the highest selling milk brand in Punjab. Verka’s packed milk has registered a sale of an average 9.64 lakh litre per day (Up to September, 2015).

Speaking about the launch, Amarjit Singh Sidhu, chairman, Milkfed, said, “The new identity is in line with the vision of Verka to become the most admired brand in the dairy sector. With edges being smoothen, the identity showcases the approach of Verka to introduce changes at all levels to provide the customers with an impeccable quality in all its products.” — TNS
