Two youths booked for manhandling ASI

AMRITSAR: An ASI of the traffic police was allegedly manhandled by two youths, one of them is yet to be identified. It was said the accused were challaned for riding a bike sans a helmet.

An ASI of the traffic police was allegedly manhandled by two youths, one of them is yet to be identified.

It was said the accused were challaned for riding a bike sans a helmet.

The accused were booked for obstructing a government servant from discharging his duties.

One of the accused has been identified as Gurpreet Singh Sekhon of Gurbax Nagar. The another youth was riding pillion.

A case under Sections 353, 186, 506 and 34 of the IPC was registered against the accused.

In his complaint, ASI Bhupinder Singh said he, along with Head Constable Rupinder Singh, was on duty at Chitra Talkies Chowk near Hall Gate.

He said, “During checking, two youths coming on a bike was stopped as they were riding the bike without a helmet. They were challaned for violating norms.”

Bhupinder Singh said the accused entered into a verbal spat. He said the youth pushed him and tried to flee from the spot.
