Two robbers held for targeting toll plaza worker

The Amritsar rural police have nabbed two looters who robbed Jandiala Toll Plaza a week ago. They have been identified as Rahul, a resident of Jandiala, and Robby of Thathia village. A case under Sections 379-B and 34 of the IPC has been registered against them.

Pardeep Singh, an employee at Jandiala Guru toll plaza, stated to the police here on Thursday that he worked as computer operator at the toll plaza. On February 8, he was issuing receipts to vehicles when two motorcyclists entered his cabin and pointed a pistol at him. They took away Rs 10,700 from his cash box and fled. Their bike didn’t have registration plate.

They tried to trace the accused and came to know on Thursday that the accused were Rahul and Robby. A complaint was lodged with the Jandiala police following which both were arrested.

Meanwhile, a tourist, Shweta Chohan, was robbed by two bikers while returning from the Amritsar-Attari joint check post after watching the Beating Retreat ceremony. They took her purse containing cash and jewellery.

A case under Sections 379-B and 34 of the IPC has been registered against unknown persons in this connection. She stated to the police that she, along with her family, was returning from the Attari-Wagah joint check post in an auto-rickshaw the bikers targeted her near Khalsa College. Her purse contained a mobile phone, earrings, ATM cards and Rs 8,000 in cash.
