Two migrant children drowned in the Upper Bari Doab canal near Sultanwind here late last evening. Their bodies were fished out today evening. They had dived into the canal to take out some coconuts thrown by people to offer some rituals.
The deceased have been identified as Kuldip Kumar and Kundan Kumar.
Divers recovered Kuldip's body at noon while Kundan’s body was recovered near the Sultanwind bridge in the evening. Kundan worked at a tea shop in the Focal Point industrial area and Kuldip was a student.
The police have filed the proceedings under Section 174 of the CrPC.
The bodies will be handed over to their kin after the postmortem examination.
