The Patti police have booked two persons for theft. Identified as Amritpal Singh of Kairon and Harinderpal Singh of Patti, they took away gold ornaments worth Rs 1 lakh and Rs 10,000 in cash from the house of one Rajni Khurana, a resident of Patti.

ASI Dilbag Singh, investigation officer, said Rajni Khurana had gone to Amritsar fearing harassment at the hands of police as her son had solemnised love marriage with the sister of Amritpal Singh. She alleged that while she was away, the accused committed the theft at her house.

Dilbagh Singh said a case under Sections 457 and 380 of the IPC has been registered against them. — OC
