Two booked for immigration fraud

Amritsar: The police have booked two persons for duping a person of Rs 3.2 lakh on the pretext of sending him abroad. The suspects have been identified as Pankaj Khokhar, resident of Gali Mandir Wali Gilwali Gate and Ashu.

Amritsar: The police have booked two persons for duping a person of Rs 3.2 lakh on the pretext of sending him abroad. The suspects have been identified as Pankaj Khokhar, resident of Gali Mandir Wali Gilwali Gate and Ashu. Ravinder Singh, complaint in the case, said the suspects took Rs 3,20,400 from in lieu of sending him to Denmark on work permit. They failed to provide him visa and also denied to return the money. They did not even return his passport, he said. The police have registered a case under Sections 420 and 120B of the IPC and Section 13 of the Punjab Travel Professional Regulation Act against the accused. TNS

Motorcycle set ablaze by friends

Amritsar: A dispute over money turned ugly, when two persons set their friend’s motorcycle on fire. The suspects have been identified as Kanwarbir Singh alias Cami, a resident of Ganda Singh Colony, Tarn Taran Road, and Bau, a resident of Ganda Singh Wala, Majitha Road. Complainant Harbans Singh stated to the police that at 2.15 am on Monday, the suspects, under influence of alcohol, came to his house and demanded money. When he refused to oblige, they entered into scuffle and damaged his fridge. Later, they set his motorcycle on fire and also threatened to kill him. The police have registered a case. TNS

Man arrested with pistol 

Tarn Taran: The Verowal police have arrested Lovepreet Singh, alias Love, of Chatiwand Lehal village and recovered a stolen motorcycle and a country-made pistol with five cartridges from his possession. The suspect was arrested at a naka laid at Uppal village. ASI Charan Singh said the suspect was coming from Rayya town. A case under Sections 379 of the IPC and 25, 54 and 59 of the Arms Act has been registered against Lovepreet. TNS
