Traffic police issue route plan for today

The city traffic police has issued a traffic route plan for devotees coming to pay obeisance at the Golden Temple on October 24 and 25.

The main route from Town Hall to the Golden Temple will be restricted for the people and pilgrims use from 4 pm to 9 pm during these two days.

Police Commissioner Loknath Angra said ‘Sangat’ (devotees) could park their vehicles at Burj Akali Phula Singh. He said, “Similarly, the stretch from Sultanwind Gate to Dholiyan Wala Bazaar up to Serais (inns), located in the Golden temple complex, could be used for parking of vehicles. Devotees can also park vehicles in parking lots of Galliara.”

Devotees coming on foot from Hall Gate will be diverted to Katra Jai Mal Singh. From there they will walk to Katra Ahluwalia, Jalebiya Wala Chowk, Karmo Deorhi Chowk to reach the Harmandar Sahib.

Similarly, devotees arriving on foot from Sultanwind Gate could reach the Golden Temple from Dholi Mohalla and Nagpal Hospital turn.

Devotees arriving from Burj Akali Phula Singh can enter the walled city from Gheo Mandi Chowk. They can reach the holy Sikh shrine via Vir Bhan Da Shivala, Bagh Ramanand, Lakkad Mandi Mor, Jallianwala Bagh.

Meanwhile, the government has made arrangements for parking of buses at Hall Gate and Burj Akali Phula Singh to ferry pilgrims to the Sikh shrine. The shuttle bus service will be available free of cost for pilgrims.

Devotees coming from the Tarn Taran road can arrive on foot from the Gurdwara Ramsar road to the Golden Temple from Gurdwara Baba Attal Rai.

Parking lots will also be restricted for the public use on October 24 and 25. Saragarhi Parking will be closed for the public from 1 pm on October 24 till 9 pm on October 25. Vehicles coming from Hall Gate can be parked at Machhi Mandi during this time.

The Police Commissioner assured that following of the aforementioned route would save pilgrims and the public from any inconvenience. He said in case of any trouble the matter could be brought to the notice of the ADCP (Traffic) on his cell No. 97811-30115, traffic police control room No. 97811-30630 and at the mobile No. of the ACP (Traffic) 97811-65600.
