Three held with liquor, heroin in separate cases

Continuing with its anti-drug drive, the city police has arrested a person with 96 bottles of whisky while his two accomplices managed to escape. The accused were identified as Parmjit Singh of Akash Vihar, Balwinder Singh of Patti Pandori and Sarbjit Singh of Mohkampura.

While Parmjit has been arrested, Balwinder and Sarbjit are still at large. A case under Sections 61, 1 and 14 of the Excise Act has been registered against them.

Similarly, in another incident the Cantonment police nabbed Vinod Kumar of Naraingarh Chheharta with 20 bottles of liquor during a search operation. He was also booked under the Excise Act.

Meanwhile, the Division B police station arrested Vijay Kumar of Bihar, now residing at the Sheikhupura area in Jandiala with 5 gm heroin.

The city police carried out search operations at the Faizpura and Ghanupur Kale areas. However, it did not find any objectionable material or drugs during the drive. Officials also conducted police-public meetings at Bal Sachander village and at the Tarn Taran road areas and urged the people to cooperate with them.
