Three arrested with drugs

Three persons have been arrested in two separate incidents for allegedly possessing drugs. They had been selling the intoxicants to addicts, the police said.

Those arrested have been identified as Kunal Kumar, alias Mithu, of Veryam Singh Colony; Sanju of Gali Sheikhan Wali, inside Lahori Gate; and Pawan Singh of Guru Arjan Dev Nagar on Tarn Taran road.

Kunal and Sanju were arrested with 1,200 intoxicating tablets. Investigations revealed that they had brought intoxicants from Jagadari (Haryana) for selling it to addicts in the city.

Sub-Inspector (SI) Parminder Singh, investigating officer, said the accused used to procure intoxicating tablets for Rs 2 each and sold these at Rs 10 per tablet.

According to the SI, the accused had been taken on police remand for further investigation to ascertain whom did they procure the drugs from. A case under Sections 22, 29, 61 and 85 of the NDPS Act has been registered.

Meanwhile, the CIA staff arrested Pawan Singh and recovered 500 intoxicating tablets from his possession.
