A teenage boy was brutally thrashed by several persons in Rayya on Thursday. He was going for tuitions on his bike when the accused intercepted and abducted him. Four youths have been arrested.

Victim Sauravpunit Singh (17), a resident of Khalchian, was rushed at Baba Bakala Civil Hospital for treatment. He stated to the police that while going for tuitions, when he got his bike refilled from a fuel station. He had about to reach Sant Park in Nikka, Rayya, when the accused came from the opposite side on a scooter and a bike. He said that they surrounded and thrashed him. They took took him on their bike to a bitumen plant.

He alleged that one of the accused, Gurinderjit Singh, alias Harry, took out his .12 bore pistol and tried him to shoot him.

His relatives reached the spot after they got to know that he had been abducted. On seeing them, the accused fled the scene.

Besides Gurinderjit Singh, the police have arrested Navraj Singh, Prince Bawa and Akashdeep Singh, all residents of Rayya. The accused told the police that Sauravpunit Singh used to shed a bad light over them in the village.

Agyapal Singh, investigating officer, said a case under Sections 365, 323, 341, 34 of the IPC and 25, 54, 59 of the Arms Act had been registered against them. He said further investigation was under way to ascertain the exact reason behind the incident.

The police produced them in a court and took them on a two-day remand for interrogation.
