Teej festival fervour grips holy city

AMRITSAR: Teej was celebrated in the city with fervour. Folk singer Gurmeet Bawa was the chief guest at the Indian Academy of Fine Arts (IAFA).

Teej was celebrated in the city with fervour. Folk singer Gurmeet Bawa was the chief guest at the Indian Academy of Fine Arts (IAFA).

The entire gallery was decorated in Punjabi traditional manner. Women were seen dancing to traditional songs. Prominent female residents of the city were part of the celebration. The programme was convened by Tajinder Kaur Chinna. Amandeep Kaur, Director, Amandeep Hospital, was also present. Students from various colleges and university performed bhangra and giddha.

Amritsar College of Engineering and Technology (ACET) also celebrated the festival. Ragini Sharma (Director, Finance), ACET, presided over as the chief guest and Rainu Banga was the guest of honour.

Female staff members were dressed up in traditional attires. They danced to bhangra beats and Punjabi boliyan. Swings were decorated with flowers.

A Punjabi cultural corner was set up with charkha, pakhian, phulkari, peehra, chhaj, bangles, etc. Punjabi delicacies were also served to the female staff members.

Students applied mehndi to their hands.The function included enthralling dance performances and several enactments by female faculty members.
