A one-month induction training programme for the newly recruited faculty was organised at at the Faculty Development Centre of GNDU on Tuesday.

“The formal pre-recruitment training for the teachers, engaged in the field of higher education, is one of the essential prerequisites of the present times, which led to the genesis of induction training programme after the brainstorming sessions at the highest level”, said Vice Chancellor, Prof Jaspal Singh Sandhu while delivering the inaugural address. Tje programme is being conducted under the aegis of Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya National Mission (PMMMNMTT) on Teachers and Teaching, a brainchild of the Union Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD). As many as 45 teachers from a wide spectrum of academic disciplines from Punjab and other states are participating.

Highlighting the paramount significance of such programmes, the VC said the teaching profession entailed not only the classroom teaching and research work, but also is closely associated with the other responsibilities as well. Drawing a parallel between the training programmes of the civic service probationers, he opined that such programmes are of equal importance.
