Taraksheel Society today exposed an alleged ‘Tantrik’, who duped a woman of Rs 19,000 on the pretext of solving her domestic problem.

In a statement here today, Sumeet Singh, president of the association, said the accused Godman, Mayur Shah, claimed to have godly powers and learnt the art of black magic in order to solve problems of the people.

Sumeet said the victim approached society when the accused started threatening her of dire consequences and to kill her family members by using his black magic.

She asked the Godman to return her money after he failed to provide relief from her family problems. Sumeet said a team of Taraksheel Society, including advocate Amarjeet Singh Bai, Major Singh, Master Kuljit Verka and others went to the Godman’s shop, located near Crystal Chowk, and asked him to show his magical powers or return the money to the victim. Exposed before the people and his supporters, he returned Rs 19,000 to the victim.

The victim also lodged a complaint at the Civil Lines police station for further necessary action. She demanded registration of criminal case against the so called Godmen, who were fleecing innocent people. Sumeet said the victim fell in trap of the Tantrik through an advertisement, telecast on the local cable TV network.

He said the government should take action against such persons, besides stop publishing of misleading advertisements in the media, which were banned under Drugs and Magic Remedies Act.
