Special children from Agosh School celebrated Independence Day at a function organised by Agosh Holding Hands Society and Inner Wheel Club, Amritsar South, here today. The function was held to inculcate the spirit of patriotism among the kids.

Sarbjeet, president of Inner Wheel Club, Amritsar South, said, “The aim is to give special children a platform to showcase their skills as such kids are hardly given any kind of platform.”

Students from the age group of 9-42 performed cultural items. Students sang and danced to the tunes of patriotic songs enthralling the audience.

Principal Maninderjit Kaur said, “It takes a lot of efforts to prepare such kids. They are special and they have to be trained in a specific way.”

Uma Bhagat, district chairman of Inner Wheel Club, District 307, was the chief guest. She said, “It is a wonderful initiative. Teaching them self reliance is the need of the hour. Such events instill confidence. I want our NGO to help start yoga classes here.”

The members of the club also distributed water bottles and stationery among students. Special students of this school shall be a part of the Independence Day programme at Attari-Wagah Joint Check Post.
