MC for speedy bill distribution

Amritsar: The zonal superintends have to distribute the water and sewerage bills within two days once the Municipal Corporation (MC) generates the same. MC Commissioner Sonali Giri has issued the directions. Residents have been complaining of delay in the delivery of bills. As per the directions, the zonal superintends will collect the bills from the office and deploy employees to distribute the same. The MC has also started sending the bill details through messages. Man run over by train

Tarn Taran: An unidentified person was run over by a moving train near the Bhagtanwala railway station on Monday night. The Government Railways Police (GRP) had initiated proceedings under Section 174 of the CrPC, said ASI Jaswant Singh. He said the train was coming from Amritsar. The body has been sent to the local Civil Hospital. OC

Held with pistol

Tarn Taran: A police team has nabbed a man for possessing a county-made pistol with a live cartridge. He was caught from Dugalwala village on Tuesday. The police said the accused was identified as Surinderpal Singh of Nanaksar locality. OC

Complex surgery

Amritsar: A complex heart surgery was performed successfully at Ivy Hospital, Amritsar. Addressing a press conference, Dr Pankaj Goel, director and chief heart surgeon, said Nirmal Singh was diagnosed with a leakage in his aortic valve about a year ago. He delayed surgery and developed jaundice and heart failure. “Using the latest techniques, patient was operated upon and his valve was replaced. The operation was successful and Nirmal Singh has returned to normal active life in one month,” remarked Dr Pankaj. TNS
