Amritsar: The Cantonment police have booked Gurlal Singh of Behka village in Bhikhiwind of Tarn Taran for allegedly outraging the modesty of a woman and physically assaulting her. The victim told the police that she was married and became a friend with the accused over mobile phone. She alleged that the accused started forcing her to marry him. She said on Sunday, he came to her house and started quarrelling with her. He outraged her modesty and while leaving the place, took away two mobile phones, a laptop and a gold chain of the victim. Initially, she did not inform her husband about the incident. Later, she told her family about the same. However, no arrest has been made so far.

2 pickpockets arrested

In yet another incident, two pickpockets were nabbed from the Golden Temple premises while stealing wallets of devotees. The accused were identified as Sukhdeep Singh of Gurdaspur and Amarjit Singh of Bal Saran village in Beas. They were held with the help of devotees and later handed over to the police where a case has been registered.

Youth arrested with stolen bike

The Civil Lines police have arrested Karam Singh of Bua Nangli village for allegedly possessing a stolen motorcycle. The accused used to steal vehicles from various parts of the city and later sell the same after forging documents. He was arrested from near Passport Office. A case has been registered.

Man held with gold at airport

An Indian immigrant, who was returning from Dubai,  was nabbed with 240 gm of gold foil paper, worth over 6,91,000 from Sri Guru Ramdas Jee International Airport here on Thursday. The accused has been identified as Mohammad Akram, a resident of Manglour in Haridwar, Uttarakhand. Customs officials nabbed Akram when he alighted at the Amritsar airport from a SpiceJet flight. An official said the accused was hiding the gold foil paper in a box of date palm. Further investigation in the case was going on, said the official.  TNS
