Snatchers target tourist

A tourist from Himanchal Pradesh was robbed by two snatchers when she, along with her family, was going towards the Attari-Wagah Joint Check Post to witness the Beating Retreat ceremony here on Sunday.

The victim, identified as Maya Verma, along with her family, had hired an auto-rickshaw from near the bus stand after paying obeisance at the Golden Temple. When they reached near the Cantonment police station on GT road, two youth travelling on a scooter snatched her purse. She had Rs 15,000 in cash, two mobile phones and some documents. Raj Kumar, investigating officer, said he scrutinised a couple of CCTV cameras but to no avail. Investigation is under progress, he added.
