Amritsar: The city police on Sunday claimed to have arrested two snatchers — Prabhjit Singh of Kandowali village and Yadwinder Singh, alias Phuman, of Chetanpura village. Three expensive mobile phones were seized from them. They were brought on one-day police remand and further interrogation was under way. The police claimed that they had sold several snatched mobiles which were yet to be recovered. TNS

Youth found dead

Tarn Taran: A body was found from the toilet of Sri Darbar Sahib on Sunday. Heera Singh (28), son of a retired patwari (Iqbal Singh), had been missing since June 14. Iqbal Singh had informed the police that  Heera Singh was an addict. He had left home on his moped  on June 14. The manager of Sri Darbar Sahib informed the police when employees found him dead in a toilet. OC

Bike lifters held

Tarn Taran: The city police have arrested two residents of Varpal village with two stolen bikes. From Duburji village, 10 km from here on Saturday. ASI Satpal said the accused had been identified as Vikram Singh and Harmander Singh Mintu from whom two stolen bikes without number plates were seized. A case has been registered against them. OC
