Six mobiles recovered from Asr Central Jail

There is no let-up in the sneaking of mobile phones and other objectionable material in the Amritsar Central Jail premises.

In the past two days, the jail staff recovered six mobile phones and intoxicant tablets from four inmates. Out of the six phones, two were found abandoned. Two separate complaints were lodged with the Gate Hakima police by the jail superintendent, Ashish Kapoor.

According to information, the jail staff recovered two mobile phones from undertrials Sukhdev Singh and Daljit Singh during a search operation in barrack number 2, room number 4 of the central jail on Tuesday. Two mobile phones were found abandoned. The staff also seized an abandoned box containing 50 intoxicant tablets and Rs 640.

Similarly, in another search operation yesterday, the jail staff confiscated two mobile phones from undertrials Amritpal Singh and Major Singh. They were lodged in an isolation barrack number 24.
