Launching a scathing attack on cricketer-turned-politician Navjot Singh Sidhu, who joined the Congress, Union Minister of Food Processing Harsimrat Kaur Badal said, “It has all ended up with Sidhu making a mockery out of himself.”

Harsimrat was here to canvass for his brother and Cabinet Minister Bikram Singh Majithia, who is contesting for the Majitha Assembly seat.

On sidelines of the event, she said, “Sidhu has made himself a ‘saleable product’. First went to AAP, and then to the Congress to get a better deal. Now, just 20 days ahead of elections, he has joined Congress like this,” she said.

Referring to Sidhu’s role as a judge on a TV comedy show, she tauntingly said, “With Sidhu continuously laughing at the Laughter Challenge and Comedy Nights, he has made a mockery of himself only. He didn’t care for the party that offered him so much respect and made him Member of Parliament four times,” she added.

She said Sidhu never appeared to be eager to serve people of the state. “When he was an MP, his government was there at the Centre and the state as well, but he didn’t feel like encashing this golden opportunity to prove his intentions to serve people. I doubt his objective. That’s why he ran away,” she said.
