Schools honour meritorious students

Students who have performed well in the CBSE board examinations were honoured during prize distribution functions held here on Friday.

Sri Guru Harkrishan Senior Secondary Public School, GT Road, Amritsar, honoured their Class XII students during a prize distribution ceremony.

Patti MLA Harminder Singh Gill graced the occasion as the chief guest. Dr Santokh Singh, president, Chief Khalsa Diwan Charitable Society, also attended the function.

Navneet Kaur (96.4%), Prabhjot Kaur (96.4%), Ramnit Kaur (95.2%), Manmilan Singh (95.8%), Manvi (95.8%) and Komalpreet Kaur (94 %) were awarded medals, watches, mementos and certificates on the occasion.

Of the total 345 students who appeared for the CBSE XII board exams, 13 scored above 95 per cent marks, 44 scored above 90 per cent and 44 students scored 85 per cent.

MLA Gill appreciated the CKD for making efforts to impart religious values to students and motivating them associate with their roots. The MLA also invited the CKD to set up a well-equipped professional college on 10 acre, which may be handed over by the government at Kairon village in Patti.

The Senior Study II also honoured its Class XII merit holders. Raizy Nayyar topped the school with 96.8 per cent marks. School principal Upasana Mehra said they were proud of her.

Manpreet Kaur (96.4%) and Prerna Bhatia (95.8%) were also honoured on the occasion. The Ram Rakha Mal Kapoor Trust has initiated an award for meritorious students of the school after Shrimati Uma Kapoor. The Kapoor family gave a cheque for Rs 5,000 each to all three toppers.
