Schools celebrate Earth Day

Various educational institutes of the city celebrated Earth Day on Saturday.

Students of The Senior Study organised various events to demonstrate their support for the cause of environment. A special assembly was organised in which school director Vijay Mehra said “Around 1.2 billion people worldwide don’t have access to potable water.”

Principal Upasana Mehra said competitions on poster making and slogan writing were also organised.

At Ryan International School, tiny tots of Montessori- I participated in tearing and pasting of glaze papers on the earth drawn on charts. Kids of Montessori-II took pledge to keep their surroundings clean and green, and toddlers of Montessori- III brought one sapling of their choice and planted it on the school premises.

Principal Rajni Kalra highlighted the importance of clean and green environment.

An array of activities were conducted at Sri Guru Harkrishan Senior Secondary Public School, Majitha Road bypass. Teachers educated the students about environmental degradation, conservation of water and other natural resources.

Students of Class XII (science), DAV Public School, conducted a special assembly themed ‘environmental and climate literacy’. They presented a cultural programme encompassing poetry recitation, skit and role play, environmental quiz and poster-making contest for raising awareness on environment.
