Amritsar, May 16

Finally, after a gap of four years the satellite hospital at Fatahpur village has neared completion and will see the light of day.

The earlier building of the hospital was demolished to provide land for the Central Jail and the staff was shifted to a building in Dhab Khatika area inside the walled city.

As a result, the residents of Fatahpur and adjoining villages were a harried lot as they had to travel to city to visit a doctor.

Though the new building was completed around a year ago, but the faulty design led to unwanted delay. The sources said that the building did not had a X-ray room besides the area allocated for the dispensary was too small.

The Health Department asked the Public Welfare Department (PWD) to make required changes.

Civil Surgeon Dr Hardeep Singh Ghai said that the hospital will be opened soon as inauguration date was being finalised.
