Sanitary workers to get extra wages on public holidays

The Municipal Corporation has announced to pay sanitation workers who work on festivals and other holidays. It was a long-pending demand of the Safai Sewak Union to pay for the work on holiday, especially during the festival season. 

Mayor Karmajit Singh Rintu said, “We have decided to pay for the day, when any safai Karamcharis will work on holiday. The salary of September month has been released to the Safai Karamcharis on priority.” 

Commissioner Komal Mittal stated that the safai karamcharis would be paid for the holiday as per rules. Vinod Kumar Bitta, President Safai Karamchari union welcomed the move.
