Amritsar, June 29

Senior SAD leader Navdeep Singh Goldy met Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and apprised him about problems faced by residents of the Amritsar South constituency today.

Badal was here for Sangat Darshan programme in the Rajasansi constituency. Goldy said various development projects sanctioned by the Punjab government for the Amritsar South constituency could not be implemented due to alleged bureaucratic hurdles.

He appealed to the Chief Minister to construct and repair roads leading to the Golden Temple, besides fixing the responsibility of officials concerned for maintaining their cleanliness.

He also demanded construction of an underpass near historic Gurdwara Shaheed Baba Deep Singh, besides construction of a flyover in the Kot Mit Singh area. He also urged the CM for starting work of laying sewerage outside Chhatiwind cremation ground in the area. He also appealed to the CM for construction of a road on the covered seasonal drain passing through various bazaars of the constituency.

It is pertinent to mention here that after the differences between the MLA from the area, Inderbir Singh Bolaria, and senior SAD leadership, Goldy is aspiring for the ticket from the constituency. Following his meeting, he said the CM had assured him of appropriate steps for completion of demands put forth by him.

He said a number of development works started by the SAD-BJP government in the area, including multicrore sewerage project, had provided a new lease of life to inhabitants of the area, who were suffering the past many decades. He said the Punjab government was determined to develop the holy city as world-class city.
