SAD councillor Amanbir Singh Sandhu has pleaded innocence and approached the DGP, Punjab Police, while alleging that his name was being unnecessarily being dragged into a “multi-crore” investment scam.

He alleged that he was facing harassment at the hands of members of the NGO who claimed to have investigated the matter. Residents of the Chheharta area had accused SAD councillor and several others allegedly running illegal finance firms of duping them of their earnings on the pretext of investment and handsome returns.

The city police registered two separate cases in the previous year in this regard, though it never nominated Sandhu.

Sandhu claimed that some political leaders were bent upon to falsely implicate him in an illegal manner without any documentary evidence and lodging false complaints against him.

He said he had a connection with the Dara Future Vision which came into existence in March 2013. However, he and his wife had resigned from the company and withdrawn all rights, liabilities and assets due to its “non-working in accordance with rules”. Even its name was also changed to Gobind Future Vision Limited, he said.

He said he had appeared before SIT as and when it called him for investigations or recording statements. He had no stake in any of the firm accused by residents of committing frauds with them. He urged the DGP for early completion of the probe so that his name could be cleared from the cases. — TNS
